Super-exciting snack news

Was in Asda earlier this evening, looking for the new Walkers Flavour Cup crisps (found most of them), when I stumbled across evidence of something incalculably more thrilling.

There were none actually in stock, just labels on the shelves where they should have been advertising a promotional price of £1 for a large 140g bag, but nevertheless my favourite UK chocolate treat ever appears to be on the way back. (Disappointingly with boring Galaxy branding instead of the classic white packs with counting cartoons on them.)

For those of you under 35, Counters were basically Minstrels without the crispy shell, but with a glossy finish. And of course, being made of Galaxy they were delicious. For my money, you can shove your fancy Belgian choc or your Green & Black's up your arse – Galaxy is as good as chocolate gets.

Anyway, that's pretty much the story. Look for a breakdown of the Flavour Cup flavours soon, but mostly keep your eyes peeled for Counters.

  1. I agree about Galaxy. It is the finest chocolate known to the entire universe. However the next universe along has some even more delicious stuff. I used to love those white packs when I was little. Didn't they have a giraffe on them?

  2. They had all sorts of animals on them, including a giraffe. So far I've only found one tiny crappy picture of an old packet on the internet, though.

  3. You could still get those in revels, last time I looked. Galaxy is the best of the cheap main brands. Always liked it more than Cadbury's.

I do like fancy and exotic chocolate though.

Found a few more images. Only remember the Giraffe one though. Didn't they used to have some kind of counting game on the back?
